Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx & Khan El Khalili Bazaar in One Day

A private day tour from Alexandria Port to Cairo puts Egypt's most famous ancient sites within reach of a single shore excursion. Your driver meets you at the cruise exit and takes you on the roughly 3-hour drive to Giza, with one short stop along the way, as part of our Alexandria Shore Excursions.

At the Giza Plateau, you'll stand before the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the last surviving wonder of the ancient world, alongside the pyramids of Chephren and Mykerinus. A camel ride across the desert sands gives you a different vantage point of the plateau before you continue to the Valley Temple of King Chephren, one of the few structures from this period still standing in its original form.

Nearby, the Great Sphinx, carved directly from the plateau's bedrock with the body of a lion and the head of a king, remains one of Giza's most photographed monuments.

After a lunch stop at a local restaurant, the tour continues to the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts ever assembled under one roof, including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun.

If time allows, your guide will take you to Khan El Khalili, Cairo's oldest bazaar, for a last stop among the spice stalls, workshops, and souvenir shops of Islamic Cairo before the drive back to Alexandria Port in time for your ship's departure.

Day1

Cairo Day Tour from Alexandria Port

Your driver meets you at the Alexandria Port cruise exit and begins the roughly 3-hour drive to Cairo, with one short stop along the way. At the Giza Plateau, you'll see the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the only wonder of the ancient world still standing alongside the smaller pyramids of Chephren and Mykerinus.

A camel ride across the desert sands offers a different view of the plateau before you continue to the Valley Temple of King Chephren, one of the best-preserved structures from this period, and the Great Sphinx, carved directly from the plateau's bedrock in the shape of a lion with a king's head.

Lunch follows at a local restaurant, giving you a taste of Egyptian food and daily life. From there, you'll head to the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the world's largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the treasures of King Tutankhamun.

If time allows, your guide will take you to Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Islamic Cairo's oldest market, for souvenirs before the drive back to Alexandria Port to meet your ship. Your guide and vehicle stay with your group the whole day, so the pace is entirely yours—see more of what's possible on Egypt Tours.
