From there, head to Philae Temple, the beautiful sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis. After lunch and an overnight stay in Aswan, spend the second day exploring the Abu Simbel Temples, known for their enormous statues and the story of how they were moved to protect them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. It’s a practical option if you want to see the Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple and Abu Simbel without having to arrange the separate trips and transfers yourself.

Itinerary

Day1

Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple

Your 2 Day Aswan Tour from Cairo by Flight begins with a pickup from your Cairo hotel or a meet-up with your tour representative at Cairo International Airport. They help with the departure formalities before you board the domestic flight to Aswan.

When you land, your private English-speaking guide is waiting and you head straight out to see the city’s main sites. First is the Aswan High Dam, the large engineering work built to control the Nile’s floods, store water and produce hydroelectric power. You get views over Lake Nasser and hear how the dam fits into modern Egyptian history.

From there you continue to Philae Temple, the ancient sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis. You walk among the columns, the carved reliefs and the religious buildings while the guide talks through the myths and traditions linked to Isis and her family. The complex also shows traces from different periods of Egyptian history.

After the visits you have lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to your hotel in Aswan to check in and spend a quiet evening.

Day2

Abu Simbel Temples – Return to Cairo

After breakfast at the hotel you meet your guide and head out to the Abu Simbel Temples, one of the standout archaeological sites in southern Egypt. The complex sits south of Aswan near Lake Nasser and includes two temples built by Ramses II, the larger one dedicated to him and the smaller one to Queen Nefertari.

You take in the massive statues that stand in front of the Great Temple and walk through the monumental architecture that was meant to display royal power and devotion. Your guide covers the history of the temples and the big international project, backed by UNESCO, that moved them when the rising waters of Lake Nasser (caused by the Aswan High Dam) put the original site at risk.

Once the visit is finished you have lunch at a local restaurant, then transfer to Aswan Airport for the flight back to Cairo. The two day Aswan tour with Abu Simbel temples close after seeing Aswan’s ancient sites and the impressive temples at Abu Simbel.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
