Tour Details

Two of Egypt's biggest sites, one private guide, and a pace built around your group's interests.

  • This private Cairo Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum tour covers Giza's ancient pyramids and Egypt's newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum in a single 8-hour day, with a guide and vehicle reserved only for your group. Pickup is from your Cairo or Giza hotel, and the day is split between two very different experiences: several hours outdoors at the Giza plateau in the morning, then an air-conditioned museum visit once the day warms up.
  • Your guide walks you through the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, along with the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple, where the mummification rites for Khafre once took place.
  • Rather than reciting dates at a fixed stop, your guide explains construction methods and burial practices as you move through the site, adjusting pace around what your group wants to see.
  • From Giza, you move to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the largest museum in the world built around a single civilization. Highlights include the Tutankhamun galleries, where over 5,000 items from the king's tomb are displayed together for the first time; the Hanging Obelisk suspended above the entrance hall; the Grand Staircase, lined with statues spanning multiple dynasties; and the Khufu Solar Boat, discovered dismantled beside the Great Pyramid and rebuilt for display.
  • Because the museum spans dozens of halls, your guide prioritizes the sections most relevant to your group rather than attempting to cover everything, so the visit stays focused instead of exhausting. Both sites are covered by one guide and one private vehicle for the full day, meaning no bus of strangers to join and no fixed group schedule to follow.
  • If you'd like to add Saqqara, Old Cairo, or more time at either site, the itinerary can be adjusted before departure.
  • This tour works well alongside our broader Cairo day trip options if you're planning more than one day in the city, and it pairs easily with a Saqqara extension for travelers who want to see more Old Kingdom sites beyond Giza.

Itinerary

Day1

Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum — Full Day

  • Your day starts with hotel pickup in Cairo or Giza by Aten Tours, in a private, air-conditioned vehicle with your Egyptologist guide.
  • From there, you head to the Giza plateau to see the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the last surviving wonder of the ancient world, along with the Great Sphinx, the limestone statue with a lion's body and a pharaoh's head, and the Valley Temple of King Khafre, where mummification rites took place before royal burial.
  • Your guide walks you through how the pyramids were built and what each site represented in the Old Kingdom, adjusting the pace to your group rather than rushing between stops. Eight hours is enough time to see all three Giza sites without feeling hurried, since the morning is dedicated to the plateau before you move on.
  • After the Giza sites, you'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant serving authentic Egyptian dishes before continuing to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), home to the world's largest collection of Pharaonic artifacts, including King Tutankhamun's treasures displayed together for the first time using modern interactive technology, alongside the Hanging Obelisk and the Grand Staircase lined with statues from multiple dynasties.
  • Your guide prioritizes the halls most relevant to your group, since the museum is large enough that seeing every gallery in one visit isn't realistic.
  • The day suits couples, families, and small groups who want a private pace rather than a fixed group schedule, and it typically wraps up by early evening with drop-off back at your hotel.
  • Lightweight clothing, sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended for the outdoor portion at Giza, since the museum itself is fully air-conditioned.

Yes. A licensed private Egyptologist guide accompanies you at both the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum for the full 8 hours. The guide travels with you and your private vehicle for the entire day, rather than meeting you only at one site, so you have expert context at both stops and help navigating each site efficiently.

Lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, and sunscreen are recommended for the outdoor portion at Giza, since there's little shade on the plateau. The Grand Egyptian Museum is fully air-conditioned. Modest dressing is a safe standard for Egypt's religious and historical sites.

Yes, this tour is suitable for children accompanied by an adult.

On this tour, your guide and vehicle are reserved only for your group for the full day — there's no joining other travelers, no waiting on a group's pace, and no fixed stopping time at each site. The itinerary, timing, and stop order can also be adjusted before departure to match what your group wants to see.

No. Entry tickets to both the Giza Pyramids complex and the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) are included in this tour. The one exception is entry inside the Great Pyramid's interior chambers, which is a separate ticket not included in this package and can be arranged on request.

Yes. This private tour dedicates the morning to the Giza plateau—the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure; the Great Sphinx; and the Valley Temple—then moves to the Grand Egyptian Museum in the afternoon after lunch. Because the guide and vehicle are private, the pace adjusts to your group instead of following a fixed group schedule, which is what makes both sites fit comfortably into one 8-hour day.
