You will start in Giza, the land of the magnificent pyramids, which have dominated the desert for over 4500 years. Next you will move on to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square; it is considered to be the most significant cultural monument in Egypt. Your desert adventure is kicking off early at 7 AM with your departure from your Cairo hotel to the magnificent vistas of the Western Desert. First, you will arrive at the renowned Bahariya Oasis, well-known all over the world for its striking beauty and palm groves set against an inspiring desert backdrop.
As soon as you arrive at the Oasis you will change to a 4x4 Jeep and you will start heading further into the desert accompanied by your tour guide where you will enjoy wandering through the Oasis enjoying the peaceful environment abundant with natural springs, palms and sandy vistas.
After lunch you will continue to explore White Desert, you will stop at the wonderful Agabat Valley, which is an outstanding place renowned for its fascinating formations of white chalk and golden limestone hills, where you may opt to try sand boarding from the dunes while you relish stunning panoptic views of the surroundings.
The exploration of the desert continues further on passing by volcanic sites, having cone-like shapes and visiting the prominent basalt-covered peak El Marsous as well as a place to marvel at the beautiful views offered by the desert and Oasis landscape, in addition to Crystal Mountain where you will observe one of the most distinctive geological formations of Egypt covered with glistening quartz rocks making up an magical desert backdrop. However, mineral collection at the site is strictly prohibited.
You will be back at your hotel in Cairo around 10 PM after a fascinating full day tour in the desert.
This day trip to Alexandria is scheduled for an early start at 06:30am, you will be met by the tour guide at your Cairo hotel, and then transferred to Alexandria. Known as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean," this historical city is famous for its rich Greco-Roman culture and stunning coastal views.
You'll begin your tour of the city at the 15th century Citadel of Qaitbay; this fort is erected on the very location of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Following this you will tour the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa which are a subterranean complex of Egyptian-Roman burials and the largest known catacombs in Egypt; they contain three levels, all rock cut with an amazing mix of Egyptian, Greek and Roman artwork that is evident within their carvings and chambers. Dating back to the 1st century AD.
Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at one of Alexandria's renowned seafood restaurants; be sure to sample the locally caught produce.
After lunch the tour will proceed to Pompey's Pillar and the ruins of the Serapeum. This towering monument made of granite is a spectacular symbol of Roman Alexandria and a fascinating array of historic ruins are dotted around the column.
Your last stop of the day will be at the Bibliotecha Alexandrina; a stunning piece of modern architecture representing one of the key cultural sites of the Mediterranean and the successor of the Ancient Library of Alexandria.
At the end of the afternoon you'll be returned to your hotel in Cairo, relaxed after a packed day of sightseeing.
On the last day your tour guide will meet you at the lobby at the arranged time at your hotel to accompany you to your airport transfer to the Cairo International Airport.
