Luxor temples tour from Aswan

Cover 500 kilometers of Nile Valley road in a single day, traveling from Aswan to Luxor by private air-conditioned vehicle with your own Egyptologist guide. This Aswan to Luxor day trip is a 12-hour journey that visits the East and West Banks of Luxor, Egypt's open-air museum of temples and royal tombs, without an overnight stay.

The day starts at Karnak Temple, the second-largest religious complex ever built, where construction spanned from the Middle Kingdom under Senusret I through the Ptolemaic period. This makes it an excellent Luxor temples tour from Aswan for travelers who want to discover the city's most important ancient landmarks in one day.

After lunch, the route crosses to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, burial site of New Kingdom rulers including Ramesses II and Tutankhamun. Entry to Tutankhamun's tomb carries a separate ticket, paid on site if you choose to go in. For travelers interested in royal tombs, this Valley of the Kings tour from Aswan offers an opportunity to explore one of Egypt's most famous archaeological sites.

From there, the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut rises in three terraced levels against the cliffs, its walls carved with scenes of her divine birth and trading expedition to the Land of Punt. The last stop is the Colossi of Memnon, two 18-meter statues of Amenhotep III still bearing Roman-era graffiti.

Your guide and vehicle serve your group only, making this a private Luxor day trip from Aswan where the pace and order of stops can shift around what interests you most. Pickup and drop-off are at your hotel in Aswan, with return by around 5:00 PM or a transfer to Luxor or Luxor Airport instead, if you're continuing your trip from there.

Itinerary

Day1

Aswan to Luxor, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, and Hatshepsut Temple

Depart your Aswan hotel by private air-conditioned vehicle with your Egyptologist guide for the drive to Luxor. This Luxor tour from Aswan takes you directly to the city's most important ancient landmarks. On arrival, visit Karnak Temple on the East Bank, a sprawling complex of temples, chapels, and pylons dedicated mainly to the god Amun, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu.

After a stop for lunch, cross to the West Bank to enter the Valley of the Kings, where New Kingdom rulers, including Ramesses II and the boy king Tutankhamun, were buried in tombs cut deep into the rock (entry to Tutankhamun's tomb is a separate on-site ticket). This Valley of the Kings tour from Aswan gives you the chance to explore one of Luxor's most important archaeological areas.

Continue to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, a three-tiered structure built into the cliffs and dedicated to Amun-Ra, followed by a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the twin seated statues of Amenhotep III.

An optional stop at a local alabaster factory rounds out the day before the drive back, with drop-off around 5:00 PM at your hotel in Aswan, a Luxor hotel, or Luxor Airport. With a private vehicle and dedicated guide, this Aswan to Luxor private tour offers a convenient way to explore Luxor in one full day.

Notes

This is a long day, around 12 hours door to door, with roughly 3–3.5 hours of driving each way between Aswan and Luxor. Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended, since the Valley of the Kings involves uneven ground and some stairs.

Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is worth packing, as most of the day is spent outdoors between April and October.

A modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) is appropriate for temple visits. The tour can end with a return to your Aswan hotel, a drop-off in Luxor, or a transfer to Luxor Airport if you're leaving Egypt or continuing your trip from there; let us know your preference when booking.

A stop at an alabaster factory is included as an optional, no-obligation stop near the end of the day.

Entry to Tutankhamun's tomb is not included in the base price and is ticketed separately on site.

The itinerary order may be adjusted depending on site opening hours or group preference.
