In the afternoon, continue to Saqqara, home to the remarkable Step Pyramid of Djoser, the world's oldest large-scale stone monument. Explore the surrounding noble tombs, including the Tomb of Kagemni and the tomb overlooking the Pyramid of King Teti, both renowned for their beautifully preserved ancient reliefs. Begin on Luxor's West Bank, where you'll stop at the towering Colossi of Memnon before visiting the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the finest architectural masterpieces of the 18th Dynasty. Continue to the legendary Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of Egypt's New Kingdom pharaohs, where beautifully decorated tombs were carved deep into the limestone cliffs.

After lunch at a local restaurant, cross to the East Bank to explore the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious site ever built in ancient Egypt, followed by the elegant Luxor Temple, renowned for its impressive statues, towering columns, and fascinating history.

Private Transfer to Aswan & Sightseeing

After breakfast, you're driven from Luxor to Aswan by private, air-conditioned vehicle. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Aswan High Dam, built to control the Nile's flooding and one of Egypt's major modern engineering projects, followed by the Unfinished Obelisk — left in its quarry bed and useful for understanding how these monuments were actually cut — and the Philae Temple, built on its own island and dedicated to the goddess Isis. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll take a felucca sail to Elephantine Island before returning to your hotel in Aswan for the night.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel in Aswan

Day6

Abu Simbel Temples & Flight Back to Cairo

After breakfast, you're driven by private vehicle from Aswan to Abu Simbel, a journey of a few hours through the desert south of Lake Nasser. At Abu Simbel, you'll see the two temples built by Ramses II — one dedicated to himself and the gods, the other to his wife Nefertari — cut directly into a sandstone cliff and later relocated intact to save them from flooding when the Aswan High Dam was built. After lunch, you're driven back to Aswan and take a short flight to Cairo, where an Aten Tours representative meets you for the transfer to your hotel.

  • Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Cairo

Day7

Cairo Free day and Optional Khan El Khalili Tour

After breakfast, the day is yours to explore Cairo at your own pace — no scheduled sightseeing. If you'd like, you can join an optional visit to Islamic Cairo's old Fatimid quarter, walking through streets that still hold their traditional character, craft shops, and everyday city life. From there, Khan El Khalili bazaar is a natural stop for souvenirs and gifts to take home, one of Cairo's oldest and busiest markets. You return to your Cairo hotel for the night.

  • Included meals: Breakfast
  • Accommodation: Hotel in Cairo

Day8

After a final breakfast, your Aten Tours representative helps with hotel check-out and arranges a private transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.

Notes

  • Itinerary Changes: The order of sites and activities may shift slightly due to opening hours, local conditions, or weather—this happens occasionally in Egypt and does not affect what's included. Your guide will inform you of any changes on the day.
  • Hotel Check-in and Check-out: Standard hotel check-in is from the early afternoon, with check-out by late morning. On days you travel between cities, your guide can arrange for luggage storage if your onward flight or transfer is later in the day.
  • Physical Requirements: This tour involves walking on uneven ground at some sites (temple ruins, tomb entrances, desert terrain), along with a longer overland or flight-based day to and from Abu Simbel. Let us know in advance if mobility is a concern so we can adjust the pace.
  • Dress Code for Religious and Historical Sites: Modest clothing is recommended at temples and mosques — shoulders and knees covered. This is a practical comfort guideline rather than a strict entry requirement at most sites on this route.
  • Child Policy: This tour can be adjusted for families traveling with children. Let us know ages in advance so we can flag any sites that may be less suitable or adjust pacing accordingly.
