10-Day 9-Night Egypt Family Tour by Air: Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Alexandria

Your guide meets you at Cairo International Airport and transfers your family in a private air-conditioned vehicle to begin the tour.

The first stop is the Giza Pyramids Complex, where you'll see the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, with the option of a camel ride around the plateau.

From there, you'll visit the Papyrus Institute to see how ancient Egyptians made papyrus paper and try making a scroll yourself.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon covers Old Cairo, including Coptic Cairo, Islamic Cairo, and the Al-Azhar area, followed by a stop at Khan El Khalili, one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East.

Transfer to your hotel in Cairo for the night.

After breakfast, your guide takes you to the airport for your domestic flight to Luxor. On arrival, you're met and transferred to your hotel to check in before sightseeing begins.

The Luxor Museum is first, home to statuary, jewelry, and treasures recovered from Theban temples, including pieces from the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Next is the Mummification Museum, which walks through the rituals and process of ancient Egyptian mummification, with mummies of both people and animals on display.

Lunch follows at a local restaurant before you're transferred to your hotel in Luxor.

Your guide picks you up after breakfast for the Valley of the Kings, the the burial site of pharaohs including Tuthmoses III, Tutankhamun, and Ramesses VI.

From there, you'll visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, built by Egypt's most prominent female pharaoh during her 20-year reign in the 18th Dynasty.

The last stop is the Colossi of Memnon, the two massive statues that once stood at the entrance to Amenhotep III's funerary temple. Lunch at a local restaurant, then back to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast and check-out, your guide drives you toward Aswan with stops at two of Upper Egypt's best-preserved temples.

The Temple of Edfu, dedicated to the falcon god Horus, is one of the most complete temples in Egypt, with large pylons and detailed reliefs from the Ptolemaic period.

From there you'll continue to the Temple of Kom Ombo, a unique double temple built with mirrored sections for the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus.

Next to the temple, the Crocodile Museum displays mummified crocodiles once worshipped at the site. After lunch, continue to Aswan and check in to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, your guide takes you to the Aswan High Dam, built in the 1960s to control the Nile's flooding and generate electricity, with panoramic views over Lake Nasser.

You'll then drive roughly 3 hours south to Abu Simbel, one of Egypt's most striking sites.

The temples, relocated by UNESCO to save them from the waters of Lake Nasser, include the Great Temple of Ramses II, dedicated to the gods Ptah, Re-Horakhty, and Amun-Re, and the Temple of Queen Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor.

After the visit, you'll return to Aswan for lunch and an overnight stay.

After breakfast and check-out, your guide takes you to Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and one of Egypt's most striking ancient sites.

When the Aswan High Dam was built, the temple was moved piece by piece to its current location on Agilkia Island to save it from rising water levels.

You'll reach the island by motorboat for a guided tour, with time afterward to explore on your own.

From there, you're transferred to Aswan Airport for your flight to Cairo, where you'll be met and taken to your hotel for the night.

An early start, around 6:00 AM, as your guide and driver pick you up in a private air-conditioned vehicle for the roughly 4-hour drive to Bahariya Oasis, 350km southwest of Cairo.

There, you'll switch to a 4x4 vehicle to explore the Western Desert, starting with the Black Desert and its volcanic rock formations.

After lunch at the oasis, you'll continue to Agabat Valley and Crystal Mountain, known for its quartz formations, before reaching the White Desert, famous for its chalk-white limestone shapes carved by wind over thousands of years.

You'll return to your hotel in Cairo in the evening.

After breakfast and check-out from your Cairo hotel, your guide drives you to Alexandria on Egypt's Mediterranean coast.

The first stop is the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, one of Egypt's best-preserved archaeological sites, carved three tiers deep into the rock and blending Egyptian, Greek, and Roman styles.

Next is the Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century fortress built by Sultan Qaitbay on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

You'll then visit the Montazah Royal Palace and Gardens, once home to the Khedive Abbas Helmy II and later to King Farouk I, followed by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, built as a modern tribute to the ancient Library of Alexandria.

Transfer to your hotel in Alexandria for the night.

After breakfast and check-out, your guide continues the Alexandria tour with a visit to Pompey's Pillar, one of the city's main monuments, carved from a single block of granite and dating back to the first century BC, standing where the Temple of Serapis once stood.

Next is the Abu Al-Abbas Al-Mursi Mosque, Alexandria's largest and most recognized mosque, known for its Moorish architecture and ornate dome.

The last stop is the Roman Amphitheatre at Kom El-Dikka, well-preserved ruins in the heart of the modern city. After some free time to walk the old streets of Alexandria, you'll transfer back to Cairo and check in to your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, our representative transfers you to Cairo International Airport for your departure flight, closing out your family's 10-day tour of Egypt.
